An explosion-proof light may illuminate without a ground wire, yet this setup falls short of fulfilling the standards for secure grounding mandated for explosion-proof electrical apparatuses.
To ensure safety, a Protective Earth (PE) connection is affixed to the explosion-proof light’s casing. In the event of a leakage, the current is designed to divert through this line to the ground, functioning akin to a neutral wire and providing a direct link to the light.
