Explosion Proof Motor Protection Level

Protection levels include an IP code followed by two numbers. The first number on the left indicates the dust-proof level, while the second number represents the water-proof level.

Sometimes, purchasers, seeking lower prices or not fully understanding the protection levels, might choose explosion-proof motors with lower IP ratings than required. Par exemple, when selecting an explosion-proof motor for applications such as driving a coal mill in a power plant, it is essential to use one with an IP54 rating, rather than settling for IP44 or even IP23 motors.
