Water should not be used to extinguish fires caused by aluminum powder, as it reacts with water, generating a hydrogen gas explosion.

When aluminum powder fires are doused with direct water jets, the powder disperses into the air, forming a dense dust cloud. An explosion can occur if this dust reaches a certain concentration and comes into contact with a flame. In the case of fires involving 鋁粉 or aluminum-magnesium alloy powders, water is not a viable option. For minor fires, carefully smother them using dry sand or earth. In situations where there is a large amount of aluminum powder, the risk of it being stirred up again and causing a secondary explosion exists.
